Fergie explained that both these players are still not fully fit, but the warm-weather training in Qatar did help the players to recover.
“Jonny Evans and Ashley Young are still not 100 percent fit,” Sir Alex revealed. “We had good training in Qatar. We couldn’t have picked a better moment and hopefully we will get the benefit of that.
“Young is not far away. He trained a bit in Qatar and he’s on the way back. Jonny Evans has taken a bit longer than we thought but he is on the way back too. We have Phil Jones and Chris Smalling fit which means we’re ok in that department.
“We hope to have a fully fit squad by the time the Real Madrid game comes around. Jonny Evans did a bit of training in Qatar, but not much. But hopefully he’s on the way back.”
Sir Alex has also expressed his desire to win the FA Cup this season and he feels that squad can face anyone in the competition.
“We haven’t done as well in the FA Cup for a few years now. It’s a cup which has fantastic appeal given our record in it. We have benefit of the home draw. We’ll take that any time. It’s going to be a challenge for us but we would play anyone at the moment.”
