Incoming Manchester United manager David Moyes is prepared to join rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in spending big this summer, and the ex-Everton chief will have £60 million to spend on transfers, according to the TelegraphArsenal are prepared to spend £70 million and Manchester City have already shelled out over £50 million on Jesus Navas and Fernandinho, while last week Chelsea completed the £18 million signing of Andre Schurrle with yet more signings surely still to be made at Stamford Bridge. And with all of the media’s spotlights pointing squarely as Moyes as he prepares to step into the biggest pairs of shoes in football on July 1 following the retirement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, the Scotsman is going to have to follow suit and open the chequebook if his first season at Old Trafford is to be a successful one.The 2013/14 season promises to be the most competitive in years given the financial clout of the three aforementioned sides coupled with the managerial merry-go-round that has taken in three of the division’s top clubs and the demand for Moyes to deliver instant silverware is huge. But if he uses his £60 million wisely, he will be giving both he and his players the best possible shot at glory. Here, we profile 4 Players David Moyes Could Spend His £60 Million On.
Leighton Baines
Manchester United could be on the lookout for a new left-back this summer if veteran Patrice Evra moves to Monaco as reported this month.
The Frenchman, 32, left Monaco in 2006 to join United and could be tempted by one last big move to end his playing career in his home country, and has also attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
That could open the door for Moyes to raid former club Everton of Leighton Baines, who is viewed by many as the perfect replacement for Evra. The 28-year old is considered a younger version of the French flier and also plays as a goal-scoring wing-back at Goodison Park.
He has put in a number of solid performances for England and has kept Ashley Cole on the bench at times, and is seen as one of the Premier League’s best and most reliable defenders.
There’s little questioning he’d fit in at Old Trafford under former manager David Moyes.

Ezequiel Garay
United also need another centre-back this summer with Rio Ferdinand hitting 35 later this year coupled with fitness doubts surrounding Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
The Red Devil’s defence was the leakiest in 11 years last season with 28 goals conceded in the opening 19 games and their defensive frailties may have cost them the title had it not been for the goal-scoring exploits of Robin van Persie.
According to reports, United are zeroing in on Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay and a deal for the Argentinian full-back is said to be virtually complete.
The powerful defender led Benfica to the final of last season’s Europa League but suffered heartbreak as Chelsea emerged victorious, and he could be lining up against the Blues on a more regular basis next season if he is granted a move.
Value: £17 million
Hector Herrera
Another area of the pitch in need of reinforcement is central midfield. With Paul Scholes retired and Ryan Giggs not that far away either, coupled with the doubts over the futures of Nani, Anderson and the illness-stricken Darren Fletcher, it is quite apparent David Moyes needs to address his engine room.
The club have been repeatedly linked with a move for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas but the Spaniard has ruled himself out of a return to the Premier League and said move appears unlikely at best.
One player who United could realistically sign however is Hector Perrera, who is currently contesting the Confederations Cup with Mexico. The central midfielder has been linked with a move to United and has always spoken positively about the Premier League champions, even admitting he want’s to play for them.
He said:
“Obviously I’d like to play in a team like Real Madrid or Barcelona, but one is aware of the football they play and the truth is I’d like to play in Manchester United or any other large team in those where I know that I am going to be playing.”
And he could forge a very intriguing partnership with fellow coutnryman Javier Hernandez if United can land his signature.
Value: £10 million
Kevin Strootman
Yet another midfield acquisition David Moyes could make this summer is Kevin Strootman, and given United’s already-stated midfield dilemma it would be wise of him to bring in a few able replacements this summer.
The Reds were said to be “on the verge” of signing the Eindhoven man earlier this month and Sky Sports even suspended betting on the 23-year-old’s ‘next club’ at one stage, amid the massive speculation that the player could be heading to the Theatre of Dreams.
Though a deal for the £17 million-valued Dutch international has yet to be struck, it is enough to create excitement within United’s fan base considering the club have long-needed a creative, offensive midfielder.
He’s also only 23 and the club have a policy of signing young talent and turning them into superstars, and Strootman could become just the latest youngster to make a name for himself at Old Trafford.
